Topeka, Kan. – The Washburn University Student Government and Washburn University are postponing the Black Lives March and Rally originally scheduled for tonight, Friday, August 21, 2020.  The rally will be rescheduled at a later date.

The event is being postponed due to the increase in COVID-19 exposures in Shawnee County after consulting with city and county officials. University officials emphasize that this step is being taken as a precaution and is not based on any clusters of cases on the Washburn University campus.

Washburn University started classes this week with options for five different delivery mechanisms including remote learning.  Students returned to the residence halls last week and the use of masks and social distancing is mandatory inside all buildings and anywhere on campus where social distancing can’t been maintained.
