WHAT: Washburn University’s Homecoming, Oct. 25-30, is a weeklong celebration of Washburn traditions for students, alumni, faculty, staff and the community. It is a week full of fun events that showcase the Ichabod spirit. Step back in time with us to the “Roaring 20s” for Homecoming this year. We'll celebrate all week and end it with the Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 30.

SCHEDULE OF HOMECOMING EVENTS

Monday, Oct. 25

Homecoming Bash

7 p.m. - Washburn Rooms A & B in the Memorial Union

Washburn students will dance the night away with friends and listen as we announce the 2021 Homecoming Top Bods candidates. The announcement will mark the start of voting for the candidates who will be named “Ichabods of Honor.” 

Tuesday, Oct. 26

Open Mic Night

7 p.m. – Washburn Rooms A & B in the Memorial Union

Students will show off their talents during Open Mic Night.

Wednesday, Oct. 27

Scorch on the Porch

11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Memorial Union

Following the Homecoming theme, the Roaring 20s takes over the Memorial Union. Students, faculty and staff can enjoy Homecoming-themed décor, meals, Ichabod Shop (bookstore) deals and other activities, like a singer.

Thursday, Oct. 28

Yell Like Hell Pep Rally

7 p.m. - Lee Arena in the Petro Allied Health Building

Student teams perform dances, skits and more to showcase their Homecoming spirit in this annual tradition.

Friday, Oct. 29

After Hours

5 p.m. – 7 p.m. -- Washburn Rooms A & B in the Memorial Union

This event is free for alumni dues-paid members, $5 for non-members. No registration is required. The Brothers Blue will be providing musical entertainment. After Hours is a monthly casual social where alumni, friends, faculty and staff can enjoy appetizers, beer, wine and soft drinks.

Women’s Soccer vs. Emporia State

6 p.m. – Yager Stadium

Soccer games are free for all to attend, no tickets are required.

Saturday, Oct. 30 – Homecoming Day

Alumni Association Pancake Feed and Bloody Mary Cash Bar

8 a.m. – 10 a.m. -- Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center

Enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice. Five dollars per person, free for children under the age of 5 years old. Pre-registration for the pancake feed is preferred, but not required. Visit https://wualumni.org/homecoming to register.

Homecoming Parade

10 a.m. – Parade Route winds around campus

The parade route circles WU campus, on 17th Street, Washburn Avenue, 21st Street and MacVicar Avenue. The Topeka community is invited to come watch the parade.

Washburn Tailgate

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. -- Memorial Union Lawn

No Homecoming is complete without a tailgate. The Washburn tailgate is in the large white tent just north of Yager Stadium. The tailgate is free for alumni dues-paid members and $5 for non-members, while supplies last. No RSVP required.

Football Game

1 p.m. -- Yager Stadium

The ‘Bods will take on Northern State University. Top Bods and the Ichabods of Honor will be announced at halftime. Visit wutickets.com for tickets.
