Topeka, Kan. – The Washburn University School of Business will host the final round of the annual Pitch Competition Tuesday, Oct. 19, 6:30 – 9 p.m., in the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center on the Washburn University campus.

      In the final round, students will expand on their original “pitches” and include more details on their proposed venture in a maximum of seven minutes.  Technology is allowed and a PowerPoint presentation is expected.  There will be up to five minutes for Q&A with the judges following the presentation. 

      The Washburn Pitch Competition encourages students to explore and express their business ideas in a friendly and encouraging environment in three minutes or less. The competition is open to all Washburn University undergraduate and graduate students, as well as Washburn Institute of Technology students.  Students can compete alone or in teams of up to three people. Twenty-five thousand dollars in cash prizes has been made available from Go Topeka to help students start a new business venture.

Cameron Cogswell (senior; majoring in marketing), Jamison Phelps (senior; majoring in marketing and management) and Nick Weippert (senior; majoring in marketing and management)

Project: “Ndorse” - Seeks to connect student athletes all across the United States with businesses to make student athletes money.

Jared Kerr (junior; majoring in finance and management)

Project: Quality mobile detailing at an affordable price.

Andrew Foreman (1L at Washburn Law; graduated in spring 2021 from Washburn University) and Dane Vanderbilt (spring 2021 graduate from Washburn University)

Project: “Story Tune” - A podcast app that uses algorithms and data mining to supply users with a personalized feed of podcasts tuned to what they love.

Abigail McCrory (senior; majoring in entrepreneurship & innovation, and marketing)

Project: “Top City Pet Pals” – An all-encompassing pet sitting business focused on providing high quality care to those you love most, your pets.

Peyton Price (freshman; majoring in entrepreneurship & innovation, and marketing)

Project: “Call Guard” - A connective device that uses sleeve and snap technology to attach to headsets and protect against airborne diseases.
