Topeka, Kan. – The Washburn University Department of Music will offer two opportunities to enjoy live music early next week, Dec. 6 and Dec. 7. Each of these concerts are free and are open to the public.
Monday, December 6, 2021 - Washburn University Department of Music presents a guest artist recital featuring Dr. Yunjung Lee on violin and Dr. Lucy Tan on piano.
- 7:30 p.m.
- White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus
- Masks are required inside buildings on the Washburn University campus.
Lee and Tan will perform works by Beethoven, Janacek and Brahms. Lee is an internationally-recognized violin professor visiting from Indiana State University. Tan coordinates the keyboard studies program at Washburn University where she teaches applied piano.
Tuesday, December 7, 2021 - Wasburn University Faculty Brass Quintet and the Washburn University Honors Brass Quintet Concert
- 7:00 p.m.
- First Presbyterian Church (817 SW Harrison)
- Masks are required
This concert will be a mix of holiday favorites and some beautiful brass quintet music, including the suite from West Side Story. The performance will feature Dr. Alberto Racanati – trumpet, professor of trumpet; Dr. J. Thomas Seddon, IV – trumpet, director of bands; Dr. Nicole Deuvall – horn, professor of horn; Andrew Anderson – trombone; and Joseph Lefevre – tuba professor, Principal Tuba – Kansas City Symphony.
