Topeka, Kan. - The Communication Studies Department held its biannual Nall Speak-Off event Wednesday, April 6. The event showcased the talents of some of the top students currently enrolled in CN 150 (public speaking) by celebrating informative public speech. The participants were chosen by their respective public speaking classes to compete against one another in the competition.
The Nall Speak-Off was adjudicated by a panel of three: Dean Zach Frank of the School of Applied Studies, Marc Routsong of Information Technology Services, and Washburn University Debater, Carlos Cedillo.
The top six placing participants and their topics were as follows:
- Hannah Mott – The Anus: Demystifying a Taboo
- Gabriel Donaldson – Electro-Magnetic Frequencies and Cell Phones
- Patrick Sandquist – Ransomware
- Luzianne Stafford – Vincent van Gogh
- Cristian Alarid – The History of Care for the Cognitively Impaired
- Chris Bergin – The Three Branches of the Federal Government
