Topeka, Kan. – The Washburn University department of music has two upcoming concerts planned for October. The concerts will feature faculty from the Washburn music department and guest performers. These events are free and open to the public.
Washburn University Faculty Showcase Concert
WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20
WHERE: White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus
DETAILS: The Washburn University department of music is having their annual Faculty Showcase Concert that will include a solo piano performance, vocal works, woodwind quintet, piano quartet, jazz and more.
Piano and Flute Concert
WHEN: 7:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22
WHERE: White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus
DETAILS: The Piano and Flute Concert will feature guest artists Dr. Cobus Du Toit on flute and Dr. Doreen Lee on piano. Du Toit is an award-winning international flute professor from the University of Massachusetts. Lee is a piano professor and performing artist from the University of South Alabama. The concert will feature diverse works by Carl Fruhling, Alexander Scriabin, Lawren Brianna Ware, Nathan Hall and Walter Gieseking.
This event concludes the activities of Pianofest, an all-day event hosted by Washburn on Oct. 22 for K-12 students that includes piano workshops, classes and masterclasses.
