Topeka, Kan. – Northeast Kansas has the opportunity to attend two music performances, one Feb. 3 and the other Feb. 5, in White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus.

Washburn University Middle School Honor Band

When: 4 – 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3

Where: White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus

Detail: The Washburn University music department will be hosting 125 middle school students from local schools for an honor band concert Friday Feb. 3. Andrew Hakenewerth, music lecturer and assistant director of bands at Washburn University, is leading the concert with help from David Wingerson, Shawnee Heights Middle School band director and Melissa Lambotte, Washburn Rural Middle School band director. This honor band is presented as part of the Washburn University band program under the direction of Tom Seddon, associate professor of music and director of bands at Washburn University. The concert is free and open to the public.

SAI All-American Band Concert

When: 3 – 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5

Where: White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus

Details: Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music fraternity, presents Topeka area musicians in "An All-American Band Concert.” This is a scholarship benefit for Washburn University music students. The concert will be directed by Stephen J. Patterson, chief warrant officer (retired). Adult ticket donations will be $6 and children 12 and under are free.
