Topeka, Kan. – The Washburn department of music is hosting Piano Day for students in grades K-12 that will end in a concert. This event was created by the Washburn Piano and Organ Society and serves to benefit the greater Northeast Kansas community.
Piano Day
When: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11
Where: Choral Room, Garvey Fine Arts Center on the Washburn University
Piano Day provides piano students in grades K-12 an opportunity to show their talent in a semi-public performance setting and receive valuable feedback from Washburn University piano faculty and music major judges. Each participant will be awarded a certificate of excellence, and students who score exceptional honors will receive ribbons of special recognition. Only registered students, their families and the students’ teachers may attend.
Piano Concert
When: 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11
Where: White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus
The Washburn University department of music presents a solo piano recital by international concert pianist Lio Kuok-Wai to close Washburn’s Piano Day. Wai has been praised by the Vancouver Sun as a "musician's musician" and for his "sensitive playing" by the New York Times. He is active as a soloist and chamber musician worldwide. This event is free and open to the public.
