Topeka, Kan. - The public is invited to the free percussion showcase “Identity” by Matthew Lau April 6. The performance is sponsored by the Washburn University department of music.

Where: Carole Chapel on the Washburn University campus

Details: “Identity” is an immersive one-hour vibraphone recital examining the vibraphone's identity in the contemporary world. Lau’s performance represents the exploration of his queer, Asian identity in the percussion world. The concert will combine vibraphone pieces with electronics and video projection. The pieces Lua will perform are by Lopez Lopez, Reich, Almada and Lauricella, with video projection by award-winning artist, XUAN.
