Topeka, Kan.Washburn University Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech) has named Aaron Ramsey the Bruce Pfeiffer Outstanding Plumbing Student of the Year. Ramsey, a postsecondary student from Topeka, Kan., is part of the inaugural class of the Plumbing Technology program at Washburn Tech East.

The award is given in honor of the late Bruce A. Pfeiffer who served as chief plumbing inspector for the City of Topeka and president of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). His contributions to the trade went beyond being a master plumber and inspector. He also taught plumbing classes for more than 25 years, serving as a teacher and mentor to many who excelled in the field.

“Aaron was chosen for this award due to his professionalism, participation in class and willingness to learn,” said Quentin Ouellette, plumbing instructor, Washburn Tech. “Bruce set an example through his hard work, integrity and dedication to community service. Aaron is a young man who will follow that example and impact others as he embarks on his own career.”

Ramsey will graduate May 11 from the Plumbing Technology program at Washburn Tech East which began last fall. He is already employed by the state of Kansas, responsible for plumbing maintenance for all capitol buildings.
