Topeka, Kan. – Washburn University will host the Heartland Literature Festival Oct. 4. Registration will open Aug. 21. The annual festival is intended to help foster a love of and skill in writing and reading for children and young adults. The Heartland Literature Festival is sponsored by the Washburn University education and English departments and Writing Conference, Inc. It is open to the Washburn community and general public.
This year’s festival will feature a keynote speech from middle grades and young adult author Janae Marks about her book “From the Desk of Zoe Washington” followed by a Q&A about the book and book signing. The festival will also have reading and writing workshops for children, young adults and teachers.
The Writing Conference, Inc. provides services to children, young adults and teachers with interests in reading and writing. The goal of this non-profit organization is the improvement of writing and reading skills of young people.
