Topeka, Kan. – Welcome the holiday spirit a bit early by participating in the 10th annual Toys for Tots Toy Build on Dec. 1 in building K at Washburn University Institute of Technology, 5724 SW Huntoon.

The event traditionally includes 500 volunteers who work a combined 980 hours to make 1,000 wooden toys to be distributed in 15 counties in northeast Kansas. Donations of materials and monetary contributions are also appreciated.

In addition to Washburn Tech students, volunteers include employees from a variety of businesses and community members of all ages.

Aspiring volunteers and donors of materials are requested to contact John Lemon, cabinet/millwork instructor and activities advisor, at 785.670.3431 or email john.lemon@washburn.edu. Workers are asked to notify him in advance to be included in the free lunch.

“With your continued support in the way of donations we can continue to provide the experience of building toys and working with the many people who look forward to this event every year,” Lemon said.
