Topeka, Kan.  – A Washburn fraternity, dedicated to building balanced leaders, is gaining national attention for its development efforts. Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp), Kansas Delta Chapter, at Washburn University has earned the Donald C. McCleary Excellence in Member Development Award for the 2022-2023 academic year. A representative from the national SigEp office presented the honor at the chapter’s meeting this week.

The award recognizes chapters nationwide that show commitment to continuous development and provide unique and individualized opportunities for its members. Five core areas of development programming include SigEp, intellectual, physical health and wellness, leadership and professional development.

“Washburn is extremely proud of SigEp and all of our Greek chapters as they work to enhance the lives and experiences of their members, both throughout their college years and beyond,” said Eric Grospitch, Vice President of Student Life. “SigEp, Kansas Delta Chapter, continues to build on its rich history while preparing its members for the future. Washburn is excited to see them earn this much-deserved recognition.”

Washburn University has 12 fraternities and sororities that are built on the principles of scholarship, leadership, service, community and campus pride. Recruitment efforts are typically held at the beginning of each semester.
