Topeka, Kan. – Washburn University invites incoming students, current students, their families and the Topeka community to a Summer Block Party 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. July 17.
“This event is designed to help our new students start acclimating to campus and the Topeka community,” said Dr. Alan Bearman, vice president for strategic enrollment management and student success and dean of university libraries. “We want to help them start locating resources and groups that will truly help them thrive during their time at Washburn.”
What: Washburn Summer Block Party
When: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17
Where: The Memorial Union Lawn and inside the Memorial Union on the Washburn University campus
Festivities include food trucks, a DJ, a Mario Kart tournament, karaoke, trivia, music, henna and more. Current and incoming Washburn University students and their families should stop by to sign-in at the Washburn University Admissions tent, pick up free food vouchers (while supplies last) and register for several scholarships that will be given out during this event.
“This event helps introduce students and the Topeka community to some of the opportunities available at Washburn,” said Dr. Eric Grospitch, vice president of student life for Washburn University. “We know a vibrant campus, where people get involved, helps students persist through to graduation. And, it’s just fun to have fun together.”
