March 3 FYE Scholars Reception Celebrates First-Year Students

Topeka, Kan. – Dr. JuliAnn Mazachek, Washburn president, and Dr. John Fritch, Washburn provost and vice president of academic affairs, will host a reception at 4 p.m. March 3 in Washburn Rooms A/B in the Memorial Union to celebrate the academic achievements of Washburn first-year students. This year a record number of students qualified with more than 200 and their families expected to attend.

The First Year Experience (FYE) Scholars’ Reception is an annual event that recognizes student success in the formative first semester of college and the ceremony is intended to model a students’ eventual graduation ceremony. This is the 12^th year for the reception. The Washburn community is invited.
