Topeka, Kan. – Washburn invites the community to a special send-off for the Washburn Men’s Basketball squad as they head for Evansville, Indiana, and the NCAA Division II National Basketball Championship Tournament. The team bus will leave Lee Arena on the Washburn campus at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22.

The Bods will take on Lenoir-Rhyne University located in Hickory, North Carolina, in the first round at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, in the Ford Center in Evansville. After qualifying for the Elite Eight last night with a win over MSU Moorhead, the Ichabods are the 4th seed in the championship bracket.

“We are incredibly grateful for the amazing support we are receiving from students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community as we make a run toward a national championship,” said Brett Ballard, head coach, Washburn Men’s Basketball. “Sold-out, energized crowds have played a huge part in our success, and we look forward to celebrating with everyone on Saturday as we roll out of town in pursuit of a championship title.”

If the Bods win Tuesday night, they will play again at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27. The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29 and will air on ESPN+.
