Scholarship drawing, food trucks and Mario Kart highlight Washburn’s Summer Block Party
Topeka, Kan. – What do Mario Kart, karaoke and a $1,500 scholarship have in common? They’re all part of Washburn University’s can’t-miss Summer Block Party on Tuesday, July 22, and everyone’s invited.
Now in its third year, this high-energy, family-friendly event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on the East Lawn by the Memorial Union. From food trucks and trivia to a live DJ, karaoke and a competitive Mario Kart tournament at Washburn’s eSports and Game Lounge, there’s something for everyone — especially students looking for fun and funding.
Current and incoming Washburn students can register for a drawing to win a $1,500 scholarship. Students should stop by the Admissions tent to enter the drawing and claim a free food voucher, available while supplies last. Members of the Washburn University Financial Aid team also will be on hand to help students with any last-minute questions they may have before the fall semester kicks off in less than a month.
The event is free to attend and open to the entire Topeka community.
