Washburn University Invites the Public to Crane Observatory Spring Open Viewing Sessions

     Topeka, Kan. – Washburn’s Physics & Astronomy Department has announced the spring 2026 viewing sessions for the Crane Observatory. These viewing sessions are free and open to the public.

January 29: 6:30 – 8 p.m.

February 12 and 26: 6:30 – 8 p.m.

March 12 and 26: 8 – 9:30 p.m.

April 9 and 23: 8 – 9:30 p.m.

     The Crane Observatory is on the fourth floor of Stoffer Science Hall on the Washburn University campus. Attendees have the option to take the stairs or the elevator to the fourth floor. It should be noted that there are steps up to the observatory room.   

     These events are dependent on clear skies, so on cloudy nights visitors may enjoy a show about the night sky in the planetarium. Check the Crane Observatory webpage for complete details and updates to viewing sessions. Viewing session updates are also posted on the Washburn University Physics & Astronomy Facebook page. In case of severe weather, events may be canceled.
