Washburn to award $4,500 in scholarships during special enrollment event

Topeka, Kan. — Students and prospective students planning to attend Washburn University who have not registered for classes can enter scholarship drawings totaling $4,500 during a special enrollment event Saturday, Aug. 1, on the Washburn campus.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Welcome Center of Morgan Hall, attendees can complete a free application, meet with an advisor and register for classes. The event is also open to returning students.

“Classes are starting soon, and there’s still time to take the next step toward your future,” said Dr. Stephen Terry, vice president for strategic enrollment management, Washburn University. “Washburn is committed to providing every student with a high-quality, affordable education. From the moment you arrive, you'll find personalized support, hands-on learning and a welcoming community that pave the way for academic success.”

During the event, students can complete tasks required for enrollment, including submitting an application for admission, meeting with an advisor and registering for classes. Attendees and their families also can learn about financial aid. Washburn faculty and staff will guide students through each step of the process.

New and returning students who have not enrolled in any Fall 2026 classes can enter several scholarship drawings, with awards of up to $1,500 each and a total of $4,500 available.

Refreshments will be served. Registration is not required, but new students should bring a copy of their transcripts.

For more information, contact the Washburn University Admissions Office at 785-670-1030 or admissions@washburn.edu.

Terry said the event simplifies the enrollment process.

“It’s never too late to take the next step toward your goals,” he said. “We encourage prospective students and their families to join us on campus and experience what makes Washburn special.”
